Obama Doesn’t Want an “English-only” Country
The more he speaks, the more we learn.
In an under-covered moment I only caught by streaming the event online, Sen. Barack Obama told voters today in Powder Springs, Georgia, they should not be worried about making the United States an “English-only” country.
He said he agrees immigrants should learn English, but felt the concern should be more about global competitiveness.
Sure Barack, I’m sure immigrants will take learning English real seriously. Have you been to Florida lately? While I have no problem with kids learning another language, it should not be forced. English needs to be the language of the United States, and we need to stop translating every type of government document to different languages to suit other people.
