The full text of Obama’s “back to school” speech has finally been released.  It really isn’t that bad, but I can guarantee this is not the original version.

Fox News link – http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/09/07/obama-remarks-on-education/

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has a great take on the speech, especially after running it through a word frequency counter.  Want to guess who is mentioned more in the speech, Obama or the nation?

Yep, you guessed right.

    • 56 iterations of “I”
    • 19 iterations of “school”
    • 10 iterations of “education”
    • 8 iterations of “responsibility”
    • 7 iterations of “country”
    • 5 iterations each of “parents”, “teachers”
    • 3 iterations of “nation”

The narcissist has once again made everything about him the topic of discussion.  Pathetic.  Keep your kids home and show this moron we don’t need his nonsense being told to our children.

One informal count of every world that is a variant of "you" reveals that he said that word over 200 times. If you are going to mention him mentioning "I" 56 times, then you most certainly should mention how many times he said "you, your, you're, you'll, you've, yourself," etc etc etc…. But, that may remind people that the speech was about schoolchildren taking responsibility for their OWN destiny in life and it wasn't ACTUALLY all about the president, as you would like to allude to.

And Nation and Country means the same thing, does it not? Wouldn't that bump the count to 10? And how many times did he mention America? Mmm… 5 times! He said also American once. So wouldn't that bump your count to 16? Or at the least, 15? I just want to make to make sure that you are accurate in all of your pettiness.

This post just goes to show that those on the right will do any and everything under the sun to ATTEMPT to diminish our current president and his administration. Even if it is something as simple-minded and petty as counting how many times he said certain words in a speech. You may want to reconsider this whole "playing a game of numbers" thing. I promise you that you will not come out on top.

As far as it not being the "original" speech. I guess we'll never know, will we? Going bats–t over every little thing has it disadvantages. Perhaps before going on your little witch hunt, you should have waited to see what was ACTUALLY going to be said. After all, how can you prove something that does not exist? That's right, you can't.

Please do keep your children home tomorrow. Illiterate children is the only way to make sure that the republican base has members for decades to come.

We don’t need to diminish this President, he is doing a fine job of it by himself. He has failed miserably with just about everything. We know his history with and how they want to use the school system to spread their marxist nonsense.

So funny how you want to define illiterate children as republicans. You think the democrats and liberals have an intelligent base? Go look at all the morons like yourself who voted for this idiot without knowing anything about him. All you know is “hope and change” which is a bullshit marketing slogan.

How is your socialist nonsense working out for you now? That stimulus seems to be doing a great job, right?

So let me get this straight.

It took 8 years to turn this country from a prosperous nation to on the brink of complete utter ruin… But, Barack Obama is expected to turn this all around in 8 months? Do you think that ANY president can do that ALONE without full backing from congress and the senate? Do you believe that the republicans have done or proposed ANYTHING that remotely resembles a solution to the mess that they largely helped to create?

Were we to elect John McCain? A man who admittedly knows nothing about the economy? A man who feels like the deregulation of the financial system was the right thing to do? A man who voted to go to a war with a nation that didn't attack us? A man who didn't even have the sound judgment to pick a solid running mate? A man who had been lock in step with nearly everything that GWB proposed? Things would be better with the republicans in charge right? And we have the last 8 years to prove that, right? If you believe that, you are more delusional than I thought.

Face it. The republican party is in trouble. Their tactics of scaring people with abortion and gay marriage has worn off. Their tactic of them telling their party that they will go to hell if they don't vote for republicans is not enough anymore. And while you think that the public largely is against our current president, because of what your masters at FN has told you, it's not true. The more you guys show yourself to be the fear mongering party that you are, the more people will turn away from you.

Yes, it's a horrible thing to want your fellow Americans to have a chance at health care. I'm sure that your Jesus would be very proud of your attempts to block it. MY Jesus, however, hopes that Americans will once again remember what it is like to actually care about your fellow man. Maybe he can teach your Jesus a thing or two.

        God bless you.

Typical liberal talking points, most of them bullshit.

You obviously have no idea how the economy works, once again, a true sign you are a democrat. Democrats have been in charge since '06, when the economy really started to tank. Then you have Bawney Fwank who screwed everyone in the housing mess, but yeah, blame Bush you moron.

The public is against Obama, have you seen his poll numbers. Obviously you are one of those idiots who believes Fox news has a bias, and the rest of the media doesn't. You people are something else. 2010 will be a sweep for republicans, they see that Mr. Hope and Change is another idiot just like the rest of the democrats.

If you want health care for every American, may I suggest you pay 100% in taxes to pay for it? Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? Obama can't even tell us how it will be paid for, but with all liberals that doesn't matter, it's "free" to them. Conservatives give way more to charity than you liberals, so shut up when it comes to that.

          Bye liberal troll.

I have had about enough of republicans ,conservatives and assholes who don't take the time to actually hear anything obama has to say, his speech that he made to those kids was not bad at all , but of course he was shit on before he even made the speech. I didnt hear of anyone making anti-bush websites when he was president, i didnt hear about anyone marching on washington to get there points across when everyone was against the war. Since no one else has balls to say this , i guess i'll have too…….. obama is getting shit on at every turn because he is black, no one ever thought that a black man would be the head of our nation because it had been put in our head for so many years that only white men were capable of running this country that we just accepted it…… well now its time for us to accept change, if we cant ever see past his skin tone, how can we ever listen to anything this man ever says or try to accept anything he tries to do?

    • againstobama says:

      Oh shut up.

The only people that bring up race are you idiot supporters of him. For you to say nobody made anti-Bush websites proves you are a mindless moron liberal who doesn't pay attention to anything. Move on troll.

Ummm… First of all, you’re forgetting that the dems didn’t have the power in congress to overturn a veto, so the fact that they had a majority is insignificant. Additionally, if you go back and research, you’ll see that it was GWs actions that lead to the crash. Furthermore, the housing crash has been in the works since WAY before Bush Jr. was even on the board.

“If you want health care for every American, may I suggest you pay 100% in taxes to pay for it? Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? I’m more than happy to shell out for universal health care assuming a well formed plan comes along that I can agree with, so far none have been suggested that I find intelligent. However, the fact that there are citizens who can’t afford health care is a real issue for me, and I believe that we should definitely keep searching for a means to implement “universal” health care. I mean, how could anyone be against that?

    • boxy says:

admin: “Bush tried to reform the housing industry in 2003. Why didn’t it happen? Well democrats blocked it because it would have prevented people from getting mortgages they couldnt’ afford. Once again pandering to poor people for votes.”

Well, half of that is true. There was a housing reform bill that passed in the House around that time, but it was never voted on in the Senate because the creator of the bill, a republican, pulled it due to pressure from Fannie/Freddy lobbyists.

admin: “Obama and personal responsibility is an oxymoron. I don’t suppose he told the children he’s taking responsibility for the $10 Trillion deficit?”

The reasons for the increased government spending over the past year should be obvious to anyone. The economy was in a flunk and needed to be dealt with. Half of the GOP congressmen supported the spending, so I’m not sure where you’re getting that from. Now, we can all agree that putting a blindfold on and handing the major banks billions of dollars and saying, “Here you go, use your discretion.” was a terrible idea. There needed to be limits to what they could spend it on, but in all honesty we didn’t really have time for congress (a group of POLITICIANS, not experts) to sit around and deliberate how banks should use their money.

againstobama: “The country is worse under Obama, it became worse when Democrats had majority control. Learn idiot.”

So you’re saying if the country is in worse shape than it was under Republican control, then Obama and the Democrats are bad leaders?

  • Diane says:

    I don’t like Obama. I never have.

However, complaining about this speech is absurd.

It was a good speech. He used his childhood and experiences as examples, probably to try to relate, considering he is the President and his target audience is age 5-18.

If anything, it was refreshing to see a politician attempt to tell people they need responsibility.

Find something else to complain about. You’re reaching here.
