The problem is all the loopholes and lack of citizenship checks that will be ripe for abuse. We all know democrats favor illegals having the benfits, and they aren't going to be so obvious about it.

As I understand it, the proposed plan as it is now (which I do not support, just want to get that out there) would prevent anyone who isn't a citizen from benefiting from the proposed government health insurance subsidies, as these would most likely be administered in the form of a tax break.

Now, theoretically, illegal immigrants, like any consumer, could purchase the government plan just like they could purchase any other insurance plan, but I don't really see a problem with that as long as they're not benefiting from any subsidies. It would be just like they bought a private insurance plan, only the profits would go to the government.

Now, from an economic standpoint, big red flags are thrown up in my mind at every turn. Without competition, we risk decay at the core of the economy. I still have not seen a plan that incorporates this view and puts my mind at ease, but I see no problem with exploring options.
